Chef Bob Aungst Teamed Up With Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company & Lombardi’s Seafood for Cold Smoked Oysters and Beer Flights – Summer of 2019’s Most Unique Happy Hour

Chef Bob Aungst, Lombardi’s Seafood and Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company hosted a one-of-a-kind happy hour at Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. on Thursday, June 6. Guests enjoyed raw oysters, fresh from Lombardi’s Seafood, and cold smoked by Chef Bob for a sensational new flavor profile. They were paired with four of Ivanhoe Park’s favorite brews, and two of the four were also cold smoked.

Guests in the VIP section experienced a live cold smoking demo and sampled additional items that were also cold smoked at the VIP tables. Pangea Shellfish Company assisted Lombardi’s in sourcing boutique oysters from New Zealand, Rhode Island, and Maine. The three varieties were incredibly unique, each with distinctive textures and flavors. They were also much larger than typical varieties and were a huge hit with the oyster loving guests!

“I can’t wait for this event – the cold smoking really kicks things up a notch and makes the oysters and beer an experience like none you’ve had before. We’re all really excited to work together to bring you the best from three local brands.”

-Chef Bob, prior to Half Shells + Half Pints

“The smoke in the beers is really nice. It gives it a complexity they doesn’t usually have. It’s there in the beginning and then fades away, allowing the beer’s flavors to come into their own.”

-Aaron Anderson, Head Brewer at Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company, prior to Half Shells + Half Pints
